Are you looking for the BEST kids pottery wheel? On this page you will find a number of kids pottery wheel reviews and our hands on review of a kids pottery wheel that we purchased for our two grandkids.
First of all we need to be honest and tell you that almost all kids pottery wheels aren’t that great. However, even though you have one of these not so great toy pottery wheels you can still have success and a whole lot of fun. All you need is some patience and a little practice. Be gentle with the clay while working with it you can have success!
You need to remember that these are toys because most people can not afford an expensive real pottery wheel for their kids.
Our grandkids expressed a real interest in making their own bowls and cups. They love playing with playdoh and other modelling-clay but both wanted to try using a potters wheel.
While shopping for Christmas gifts this year we came across this Creatology kids pottery wheel. It was on sale at a really reasonable price so we decided to buy two wheels. One for each of our grandkids. Our granddaughter is seven and our grandson is eight.
When I was younger I took pottery classes and bought a professional potters wheel, so I know how costly they are and I really wanted to know if Harmany and Gavin would actually be interested enough in this hobby to invest in an actual electric table top potters wheelwhich was a lot more than I had planned on spending just to see if they even enjoyed it.
So needless to say, we bought this particular kids pottery wheel on a whim. We bought our Grand kids pottery wheels at Michaels Craft Store but you can easily buy them online.

Our Thoughts on The Creatology Kids Pottery Wheel Kit
As you can see from the photo they couldn’t wait to try it out. They were just so excited! Our granddaughter actually took the time to put all her tools in the holders but Gavin our grandson just wanted to get down to business.
First of all this is a kids toy pottery wheel that runs off of batteries. That being said you aren’t going to get the power that you would if you have the ability to plug it in.
After purchasing it I read some negative reviews and positive ones but most of the negative ones I think they were expecting these toy pottery wheels to be like a professional potters wheel.
We new when we were buying it that we just wanted to see if the kids were interested in doing pottery before we went out and bought a more expensive wheel.
The kids pottery wheel is basic however, it’s not a toy that you just give to your kids and let them go at it on there own.
Our son went ahead and first sat down and showed them how to use it and we watched them as they first started working with their wheels. Pottery really does take some patience and working with clay isn’t something that you can learn in a few minutes.
It takes some practice to get the right amount of water and how to stick the clay down but you still have to remember it’s a TOY.
*One Warning: It is going to be messy no matter which way you go about it. Our granddaughter was wearing her Elsa dress when she first started opening the box and we glad that we got her to change into something old.
All in all it a toy that needs adult supervision if you want because their will be small frustrations to deal with.
After the kids tried it out we noticed that our granddaughter really got the hang of it and seemed to really be enjoying it. However, she is the craftier one out of the two.
Our grandson had fun with it but I think he got a little bored with it and didn’t really like the idea of getting his hands so dirty. He’s more into building blocks like LEGO or Snap Circuit, Minecraft and computers.
Where as granddaughter, Harmany simply loved it she is more into crafts, cooking, drawing, things that she can do with her hands.
Although, she does like her iPad, and doesn’t miss a chance to play Minecraft with her brother.
So to make a long story short we more than likely will consider buying her a professional potters wheel when she gets older as long as she stays interested in pottery.
